COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE RESOURCES

The economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have thrust many of our neighbors into the sometimes-confusing world of U.S. public assistance programs. ELCA World Hunger’s newest set of one-page guides will help potential applicants in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., get started in applying for benefits they and their families may need:

  • Unemployment insurance

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

  • Rental and housing resources from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

  • Child care assistance (for most states)

ELCA Youth Gathering Update

“After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to postpone next summer’s ELCA Youth Gathering to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 ELCA Youth Gathering will be held July 24-28, 2022, in Minneapolis, with the two pre-events, the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE) and the tAble, scheduled for July 21-24, 2022.” Read More→

Resourceful Servants Savings Matching Programs

Resourceful Servants, an initiative of the ELCA and its ministry partners, supports leaders and congregations in the ELCA by promoting the financial wellness of seminarians, rostered ministers and congregations through direct financial assistance and resources for financial education. Leaders and congregations that are financially well experience greater health and vitality overall and are better able to carry out the Great Commission — making disciples for Jesus Christ.
