TRUSTED TO LOVE: WHAT LUTHER CAN SAY TO OUR FRACTURED WORLD
Anthony Bateza - St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN
Martin Luther believed that we should fear, love, and trust in God above all things. It has always been challenging to understand what this means in the Christian life, and perhaps it is even harder when our relationships with family, friends, and political neighbors are fractured. In our sessions together, we will revisit Luther's teachings and experiences to gleam helpful lessons about the burdens and limits of our love. We will pay particular attention to the role of emotions in shaping our hearts, the value of anger and outrage, and why unrequited love prompts us to reconsider what it means to give love in the first place.
