Candidacy
The first step to Candidacy is contacting your synod. On the ELCA Candidacy page, you can find the appropriate contact for your synod, a list of frequently asked questions, and a link to additional resources provided by the ELCA.
Discerning Your Vocation
Discernment is about being open, curious and attuned to what God is up to — with you and with your community. And it’s being confident that you have a part to play in the story of God’s love for the world.
Called to Lead
From the text:
This discernment guide is intended to be used at each reader’s own pace. Careful attention to all the content in each of the four chapters, particularly to the embedded questions and actions, will yield a greater benefit than hasty or superficial skimming. Readers are encouraged to spend at least two weeks with each chapter, devoting sufficient time to the embedded questions and actions, and to conversations with a mentor.
Summary of Candidacy
The Summary of Candidacy guide provides an outline of the candidacy process, including a description and list of components for each step. The guide also highlights the four basic principles of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: We are Church; We are Lutheran; We are Church together; and We are Church for the sake of the world.
