We 12 travelers are getting excited about our upcoming trip to our sister synod in the UKD (Ulanga Kilombero Diocese). We will be flying out of Portland, Oregon on June 5, and arrive in Dar es Salaam on June 6. We will be taking 12 table runners, 25 mug rugs (coasters) and hundreds of bookmarks to hand out to the staff at the church and schools. as we are the two leaders for this trip. We were both on the 2024 trip and are very excited to renew our friendships we made then.
Since we were there, the school has added concrete borders around the pathways and is in the process of designing a solar kitchen. The kitchen is VERY exciting because they will be able to cook without using precious wood and it will be safer as well as healthier.
The twelve travelers range in age from 12 and 17 to 77 (I’m not sure if anyone is older than that on this trip). We will have one clergy with us. It is a pretty diverse group with some from Washington (Tri Cities, Chelan and Spokane) and Idaho (Coeur d’Alene, Lenore, Troy, Nez Perce, and Boise).
