News from Tanzania:
Imagine this view from your breakfast table:
And later that day you encounter the biodiversity of Tanzania:
When you visit Tumaini Lutheran Seminary, you meet the scholarship students supported by the Northwest Intermountain Synod. They are so hopeful for their future and proud of their achievements. And they thank you for your support, describing the bleak future that would have been theirs without this opportunity for an education.
At Lugala Hospital, you see premature twins, who are thriving because of the excellent care provided by our mission partners.
On Sunday, you are blessed to be present at worship, led by Bishop Mtenji, and songs of praise sung by the Maasi women. The scripture shared, sermon preached and songs sung are all in Swahili, so you don’t understand the words, but you share just the same in worship of our God and the joy of fellowship.
At Strobelt, the little children, ages 4 to 8, share with you their joy, laughter, and skills in speaking and understanding the English language. The older children demonstrate their skills in dancing traditional dances.
Wouldn’t you like to know more about how the women of Ifakara harvest rice, prepare meals, make pottery and care for one their families?
And wouldn’t it be so hard to say goodbye after such a wonderful visit?
Can you imagine the blessing in truly knowing our siblings in Christ, partners in ministry, in our sister synod, the Ulanga Kilombero Diocese in Tanzania?
Would you like to learn more? Would you like to go?
Twelve of us had these experiences and so much more this past June when we visited our companion synod. Each of us is ready and anxious to fulfill our roles as ambassadors! We would love the opportunity to share our stories from the UKD with each congregation in the NWIM Synod. Best of all, we want to encourage others to GO!
